The Wales National Adoption Service has recently published a Life Journey Work Good Practice Guide, and an accompanying Framework for Life Journey work. These documents are available on the NAS website.
This course provides an opportunity to understand the roles and responsibilities of those involved in sharing a child’s Life Journey with them (including social workers, adoptive parents, birth parents, child). The course will also provide practical opportunities to help adoptive parents talk with their children about their child’s background and consider a range of resources that may be helpful. The course has been designed by a collaboration between adoptive parents and adoption professionals.
We are also facilitating a series of regional forums on behalf of the National Adoption Service for adoptive parents to share their views and experiences of Life Journey work, Contact, Post Adoption Support, Education and CAMHS. If you would like to join us at your local event and have your say, these will be held from 1.30pm following the Life Journey Workshop, with lunch provided for those who wish to participate, You are welcome to come along to just the forum event if you like, and participants of the workshop are not obliged to contribute to the forum – though we would very much welcome your views!
